The purpose of this thesis is to describe the design and development of a general purpose, user friendly statistical package for the HP-1000 minicomputer. Features of existing statistical packages are discussed as are the packages available for minicomputer systems. The needs of the College of Engineering and Technology are outlined along with the specific criteria for the system. The requirements for the programs in the package are discussed and then the design of the programs is explained. Next an explanation of the implementation of the package and the testing conducted are described. Finally the conclusions derived from this project are reviewed.
